In an article titled "2023 Power Five Softball Predictions," they predicted Virginia Tech to win the ACC this season. I hope their prognostication skills have improved since last season, they predicted that the ACC would come down to FSU, Clemson, and Duke for the title. They never even mentioned VT. That article was posted all year in the Hokies indoor facility. Give them credit for perhaps learning from their mistakes as on October 3, they wrote: "In 2022, Virginia Tech claimed its third ACC regular-season title behind the arm of ACC Pitcher of the Year and All-American Keely Rochard. Despite Rochard’s departure due to graduation, the Hokies are still top contenders for the ACC title in 2023. Head coach Pete D’Amour still has an elite arm returning to the circle in Emma Lemley, the 2022 ACC Freshman of the Year. The offense returns its five highest batting averages, who all hit over .320, including Emma Ritter, Meredith Slaw, Cameron ***an, Morgan Overaitis and Bre Peck. Peck led the Hokies last year with 11 home runs and Slaw recorded a team high 41 RBIs. "While Virginia Tech looks to go back-to-back, they’ll have to best a Florida State team with a chip on its shoulder after failing to make super regionals as the No. 2 national seed in 2022. "Despite the return of Lemley, Virginia Tech will have to battle it out in a very competitive conference to repeat in 2023."
