Are they elite pitching coaches?
It is of my opinion that the pitching calls for Emma + her delivery lends themselves to lots of pitches off the plate. It isn't just Carrico can get most of her pitches across the plate. Whether it is the calls to her or her control or whatever, Carrico can hit the area around the plate.
Even Mazzarone's strikeouts feel like she can't consistently pitch strikes at times. Whether the coaches just need to call things that are not changeups, not rise balls, not... I know one-dimensional pitchers can get hit, but Lemley was 1-dimensional for a while and felt like she was better.
