Non-Football Athletes, a Move From Pac-12 to Big Ten Isn’t Necessarily Rosy
More money for the adults, but the student athletes pay the price. If the ACC implodes, SEC please for Virginia Tech. I like regional conferences where they are no more than 1 hour difference in the time zone. I can't believe I am even writing this, but I think with NIL taking the money above board and schools like Texas and Texas A&M joining, the SEC is best for Virginia Tech if the ACC implodes. I never thought I would ever write that.
PS Once Virginia Tech's medical schools age more and get into the clinical research more, there is not reason we can't get in the AAU either. They take plenty of schools outside of the B1G. It is a big myth that you have to be in the Big 10 to get in.

The issue isn't that you have to be in the B1G to get in the AAU,
it's that you have to be in the AAU to get in the B1G. This is also a myth however as the B1G president stated last year. In fact, I think the B1G is highly interested in FSU and Clemson, and maybe VT and NCSU. And they should be.

even Boston and Miami sharing an non-rev sports league is silly. many have said it for years now, but if there had been ANY foresight by school presidents in the 90s, football could have been peeled away from the conference structure to maintain regional sports conferences for the other 20+ sports. oh well, damage is done.

Nor do we have a women’s Final Four banner on the way. We have benefitted from this arrangement. Hopefully we continue to do so.
