This is BS. ESPN will miss The B1G.
Yes ESPN has "the most comprehensive programming" which means they will not feel the B1G departure on six days of the week in the Fall. But on Saturdays, their national advertisers are going to ask "Where's the beef?" The B1G footprint is a big part of the college FB ESPN ad package. They won't go broke, but those ad buyers will want to pay much less since they now have to also buy an ad package from the other networks (FOX, CBS, NBS, etc.)
ESPN has plenty of cash that they saved by ditching The B1G, but now they have make sure they get a good piece of The PAC and The Big 12. If the OTA networks bid for those two conferences (and they all do have room for more games) ESPN will have to overspend to keep from losing another chunk of the footprint.
If the OTA's play hardball, ESPN ad sales could get squeezed.

B1G footprint is irrelevant. ESPN footprint is what matters**
