I’d couch it more as collateral damage than seeking to damage. The existence of Pac means little to the B1G. B1G just wants more money and to do so they took USC/UCLA. College football has been moving toward NFL every year. Look no further than the introduction of the playoffs and inevitable expansion. All that brings in viewers who aren’t just alums of schools obsessed with how things were done in 1985. If the state of Virginia is left out of big time football, some hardcore VT/UVA fans may tune out but there are millions of others in the state available to watch hyped big-time football served in a manner they are used to with NFL.
