P2 isn’t done. Anybody thinking that is just hoping aloud.

The B1G has a total ‘national’ football league going with one exception, it lacks brands on the East coast and has no presence in Florida. FSU and Miami will fix that, fix the lack of east coast football brands the B1G has a problem with, and totally matches its additions of USC, UCLA, Washington and Oregon. The SEC is going to get UNC and Clemson because 1) it wants UNC and 2) it has to show it’s equal to the B1G, so it gets the best remaining football program in the country not in the P2. That does matter. The SEC can’t be at 16 when the B1G goes to 20. And anybody saying UVA gets in over Clemson is just ludicrous. If you look at all the moves the P2 has made to this point, these are the only ones that make sense. Louisville is going to cut bait and go to the Big 12 the first chance it gets, so VT, UVA, NCST and GT will likely get to trump that move by moving as a group to the Big 12. I think these 4 will want to stay together and the Big 12 would fall all over themselves to add them to create a strong presence on the East coast. When the SEC polishes off its 20 team league (and its Western division) with basketball powers Kansas and Arizona, the Big 12 will replace with Louisville and either San Diego State or Pitt. And this era of realignment will end. For a little while.

Will not merge but

No need to merge. The ACC should target certain desirable B12 schools. **

Big 12 didn’t want Calford or SMU last time. Calford prob didn’t want B12.

What evidence do you have that university presidents are like that?

I don't know about the hobnobbing, as personalities differ, but I bet

Of course. And conference membership has nothing to do with that
Pylons 04/21/25 01:25 PM ET
I agree. Otherwise, MIT would be in the Big 10, ACC, and PAC. **

Are you kicking one out? Maybe add three and then have 9 team divisions?

Not kicking anyone out. ND is welcome to be a member should they desire. **
