If the new playoff contract only gives 1 automatic bid to the G5s, then it

could infringe on a violation of antitrust laws. A reason (maybe even the biggest reason) the automatic bids are not associated with specific conferences under the current contract is because it would be a violation of antitrust laws if all 9 FBS conferences don't receive an automatic bid. What has or will change in the next 2 years that would suddenly make it legal to only award automatic bids to 2 or 4 of the 9 FBS conferences?

I think the p2 should just get it over with, and expand the playoffs

Need to have an honest conversation about the SEC & Big 10
ValveHokie 11/21/24 06:29 AM ET
Yeah, and why exactly is that? And who decided it was going to be that way?**
Baltimore_Hokie 11/21/24 09:47 AM ET
Follow the money is probably the answer to who decided question.**
VTHokie2000 11/21/24 11:38 AM ET
Exactly. My point was that it doesn't REALLY have to be the way it is.**
Baltimore_Hokie 11/21/24 12:00 PM ET
At this point, do any of the non-P2 conferences have any power to change
VTHokie2000 11/21/24 12:07 PM ET
The ACC and Big 12 have already been flushed down the toilet by Disney/FOX.

I agree with you. It is possible those leaders would rather have crumbs
VTHokie2000 11/21/24 12:37 PM ET
Disney and FOX need MORE content, not less. They're not going to tell-
Baltimore_Hokie 11/21/24 02:48 PM ET
I do think it is entirely possible Disney and FOX could tell the non-P2
VTHokie2000 11/21/24 04:39 PM ET
Take note that the B12 is attempting to separate basketball content
Big12 guy 11/21/24 02:57 PM ET
I like it. It's vindictive as hell
mancunian 11/22/24 10:33 AM ET
I am picking up what you're putting down here, brother man!**
Baltimore_Hokie 11/21/24 03:01 PM ET
Poster below said ESPN’s Sports Center said ACC & B12 none basically in 26.
Stech 11/20/24 03:38 PM ET
It was McElroy and Booger McFarland
mancunian 11/21/24 08:27 AM ET
Not surprising since the P2 is meeting without any one else, not hiding it.
Stech 11/21/24 08:43 AM ET
I know, and currently we have a P4. if the P2 takes
Big12 guy 11/20/24 03:55 PM ET
I think the ACC + Big12 is the only sensible move. The only real argument
VT ChemE 1986 11/21/24 10:27 AM ET
That would be nice, but they seem to be in the mine all mine mood.
Stech 11/20/24 04:24 PM ET
Nah, just let the P2 get it over with and do their own thing
Tailgate Guru 11/20/24 12:32 PM ET
If it goes to 16, the SEC will get 5 autos, B1X 4 autos, ND 1 auto...
EDGEMAN 11/20/24 11:06 AM ET
They will in all probability get 5 in, But hey, it seems to be the nature
Big12 guy 11/20/24 12:05 PM ET
My guess:
winston-hoo 11/20/24 11:02 AM ET
If the new playoff contract only gives 1 automatic bid to the G5s, then it
VTHokie2000 11/20/24 05:38 PM ET
Yep, that's why IMO the P2 will go the other way- no automatic bids...
BROman Hokie 11/21/24 12:39 PM ET
No auto bids makes it easier to manipulate the poll so the P2s have 11-12
VTHokie2000 11/21/24 12:48 PM ET
I would all depend on the money, but you could be right. **
Big12 guy 11/20/24 12:06 PM ET
Makes sense**
VT ChemE 1986 11/20/24 11:51 AM ET
Actually it just builds in the subjectivity in advance.**
