called Power 2. The ACC and Big 12 will be the next level. Maybe the G-5 join the ACC and Big 12? Then you'll have the FCS. Each divison will have their own playoffs. If the G-5 play in the same division as the ACC/Big 12, then ACC/Big 12 will be the Power-2 of that division which will likely create the same problems. I think this will only be for football. If the Big 10 and SEC want to break away, I feel like there will have to be at least 60 members, maybe 72 for it to work. Every region of the nation will also have to be represented. That means New England, the Rocky Mountains, maybe even Hawaii gets in. I don't think a 32, 40 or even 48 P-2 will have as much interest as a P-2 with a minimum of 60 schools. The NCAA's lack of action has caused all this to happen. Sometimes it feels like the NCAA's leadership is still living in the 1990's. They haven't adapted well to the changing landscape. ESPN and Fox have had their way with the NCAA and have been the "conference makers". I miss the days of the smaller regional conferences.
