Maybe they figure this is a way to get shafted the least

by the real "The Opportunist Leagues". If the P5 do split off, the FBS is the new FCS anyway. They don't want to be a step below that. I think they have a shot at pulling it off. Luckily for them, Liberty blazed the way. No one wanted to tell Liberty "no" for fear of religious discrimination lawsuits. Now the WAC can point to unequal treatment if they are denied. One big problem the WAC will have will be getting FBS home games while they transition. They can't get those by playing each other, so there is a chicken and egg problem. I think you cannot be FBS until you have four FBS home games per year. Liberty even played NM State home and away in a single year in order to get enough of those. Once a couple of them become FBS independents, they can do the home and away trick within the WAC to help pull the others up. Hopefully, the NCAA will give them a waiver, since they had been an FBS conference before and only lost that because other confs raided them to death. ** Edited by Truthahn at 12/12/2022, 12:54:01 PM
