It looks like she could contribute with draw controls as well. I am not sold on the addition of Menna just yet. She played in almost the same number of games the past two seasons, but started almost 50% fewer games this season. Maybe an injury impacted her numbers, but when your starts are cut in half at a program like Liberty that raises questions. A closer look at her draw stats this season also shows over 50% of her draw controls came in 5 games against some of Liberty’s weaker competition. Neither played strong schedules, so only time will tell if they can contribute against ACC teams. Both have the height at 5’8” and 5’9”. Do they have the speed and play a physical game to compete against an ACC schedule remains to be seen. I am surprised Skiera has not addressed the teams scoring challenges through the portal. With Render graduating I am not sure where the goal scoring will come from. This is a team that didn’t have a single 40-goal scorer this past season. And they lack players who convert shots at a high percent. VT is consistently one of the worst offensive teams in the ACC and neither of these additions will help fill that void. There are not many ACC-caliber attackers available in this year’s portal, so it’s not likely VT will add scoring going this route. Hopefully they can find a diamond in the rough. These new additions will add needed depth.
