We had another intake added and it seemed to help
One year our heat pump just seemed like it couldn't keep up and cool the house. Local shop added 12" diameter intake right at the base of the unit. Register was in basement so no big deal. Not sure why system changed after 10 years. The reversing valve failed a few years later so new intake perhaps was just easy fix for performance issue?
