My old Durango went through a battery every three years like clockwork.

Doubt that's relevant here since yours in only 8 months old. It's probably a dud battery. Anyway, I don't know if I can change the battery in my new Durango on my own. The positive and negative terminal posts are on reachable when I open the hood, but the battery ain't on top. Looks like it may be down under the engine block? This is my first vehicle with a FOB and push- button startup. It also shuts down the engine at a stop light. So I figure the battery system has to be different from what I'm used to to handle all that....

1) Test the battery with a multi-meter. Set to 20V - if it doesn't show 12

Change the battery. Easiest cheapest route to fixing. If that doesn't fix
