The great Del McCoury at Wolftrap last night

The artist I’ve seen the most, not necessarily my favorite, although I obviously like him a lot, I’ve made it out to Delfest a few times (to see Sierra Ferrell last May who has been a favorite last few years) and he regularly make swings through the Washington DC Annapolis area like this five night stint, I don’t know any other artists who plays more than two nights in a row there. The guy is 86 years old, not a farewell tour yet but probably a “see him while you can” raucous crowd to greet him last night. He made a few mistakes, but poked fun at himself “that was a nice break there Ronnie, too bad I missed it “ and a supportive audience laughed with him. Worlds colliding, I grew up here, literally walked across the ground where the Barns of Wolftrap now sit. ** Edited by `lag at 1/18/2026, 4:48:59 PM

Del is great, such an infectious personality plus his sons backing him up. **
