Today is travel and laundry day. I have 2 stories from yesterday. On the ascent, there was a frigid breeze and hiking in the mountain shadow was not helpful. My hiking gloves/nitrile liner gloves setup were also not working. I found an area that I could be blocked by the wind and put on rain pants and an extra layer under my sweatshirt. I also broke out the hand warmers and put on ski googles to prevent wind burn and snow glare. At the summit, no wind and I had to remove the extra clothing. No issues going down. It’s good to have extra stuff in the backpack 🙂 On the summit, a 50+ year old father just completed his 57th Colorado 14k mountain. He then proceeded down the connecting ridge to complete the final 14’er in Colorado. His son, and two daughters joined him on this awesome accomplishment.
