Late Morning Trivia: [Inventor style]
Virginia native Cyrus McCormick is attributed with inventing the grain reaper. His father actually started the work 26 years before. Cyrus with the slave, Jo Anderson, developed a working model and Cyrus patented it in 1834. There were several other inventors working on the reaper at the same time. John Henry Manning, of Illinois, developed the Manny Reaper and beat the McCormick reaper in an international trial. McCormick sued Manning for patent infringement. This 1856 trial brought out all the big gun lawyers on both sides. Of note is the Illinois lawyer used by Manning in this trial. Name that lawyer. Note Manning eventually won the case on appeal to the Supreme court.
