I got home yesterday from a trip out of town and picked up our dog Riley from boarding. She has skin cancer but had been doing ok. Today, everything went south. Riley lost control of her bodily functions, had a fever and rapid, shallow breathing. Took her to the vet. Very low white blood cell count and the cancer had progressed to end stage. She would have no quality of life so we put her to sleep. Just really grateful that the end was quick. Prior to today, she maintained her appetite and was active. Hope the old girl is running in that great green field above. Miss you Riley.
