I'd also say that Mentone has.....

...the filing cabinet(s) with all the county records. Rarely is a town that size the county seat, so other towns wouldn't have the county records. Listening to Small Town Murder podcast from time to time, and when they do the history of the towns, sometimes it's fascinating how towns get to be the county seats. In several episodes, a town became the county seat over another town when they raided the other town and stole the county records from them, making themselves the new county seat.
