Almost any study that showed even small benefits has been retracted or
debunked due to flawed methodology or in some cases flat out made up data. The fact is there is no evidence that shows it helps even remotely with COVID. That's not revisionist history, it's simply how things played out.
"The kicker, there were a number of families that won their court cases were allowed to administer drugs and their loved ones recovered even after given almost no chance of survival."
What "number" was it? Statements like this that are extremely vague are usually unsubstantiated and/or exaggerated.
And of course nothing I said had anything to do with being "on your death bed". If someone is dying and wants to try an experimental or off-label treatment then go for it. But again that was not remotely relevant to my point and you know it. There's a massive difference between trying a Hail Mary treatment versus claiming something is a wonder drug that should be used as first line treatment.
"But, instead let's laugh and chastise a drug that showed some signs of being able to help especially when most of the medical community was too afraid to rock the boat."
Where was I laughing? I can promise you I found very little about COVID funny. And by "showing some signs of being able to help" I assume you mean completely anecdotal evidence (such as your link). No one was "afraid to rock the boat"... instead they did what scientists and doctors should do. They tested the drug... and it didn't help. That's it. And despite that there are still people who act like it was some miracle COVID cure that should have been administered immediately to everyone.
I didn't bother reading your link because as I said before it's 100% anecdotal which is not how science or medicine works. The headline being phrased as a question indicates as much. I'm sure I could find someone who was given ivermectin and died. Does that mean it killed that person? Should that story also be heard?
The bottom line is that people (many who had no medical background) tried to claim (with little to no evidence) that an off-label drug was effective in treating COVID. And when actual data and evidence showed that it was not they just ignored it and screamed censorship.
