Obviously not an Ian Flemming fan...
This exact scenario played out in his Moonraker book. Bond was brought in to catch Hugo Drax cheating at cards in the Blades club. He caught Drax's cheat (using a cigarette case as a shiner to see other players cards when he dealt) and the club president told Bond to teach him a lesson rather than it become a scandal.
Bond fixed a deck of cards to give him a "Yarborough" by which he could beat any laydown Drax made. He switched the deck out at the start of his deal after going down several hands on the rubber. Drax's hand, while he had fabulous cards (mostly face and aces but no clubs), lulled him into a double and redouble by Bond. They also had a significant side bet based on a betting habit of Drax called "one-and-one" where they bet 10£ per trick and 100£ on the contract. The doubles applied to the side bet which took it up to "ten-and-ten", 100£ a trick and 1000£ on the contract. He absolutely flayed Drax as a message that he had been caught cheating and couldn't say a word else he be exposed.
One of my favorite excerpts in Ian's books that never made it to the big screen. Matter of face, the whole book was a complete departure from the movie. Know that doesn't answer the question and it's a fictional account, but good all the same.
Edit: Found a video showing how the hand was played

If the guy bid 7NT with a void in clubs and then redoubled, he was unwise.**
