I read an article about the participation of India only a few years ago....

I was totally surprised by that, the article was more about the British guy who organized the cooperation, but sure, the Japanese were next door in Burma...yeah, like visiting Crete I never knew until then about "that" war. More soldier were lost in the American Civil War but of course "we" were fighting both sides. The Crete one was kind of funny, I was reading newspaper clippings in a museum and it was like "The British Commander is aware of the German incursion and expects to get out and mop them up soon" About a month later: The British are withdrawing from Crete..." Also on a related note, I read an article how they discovered like 25 British fighter planes in Burma still in their shipping crates, It was either Spitfires or maybe Hurricanes, I forget. Haven't read a follow up on those though.
