Guaranteed interview after 1 yr as a permanent employee for any job I was
qualified for. None of the airlines were hiring in 93/94 and had thousands furloughed. In my research, FedEx was my first choice and they loved to hire from within (all jobs).
Took me 8 months to get hired in RIC, but there was a hiring freeze at FedEx, so I was brought in (Aug94) as a "casual par time" employee - health Bennie's, but no longevity or other privileges. Nov94 I was made "permanent part time" and my clock started - making $7.85/hr, 17-35hr/wk - thankfully I was also flying out of Andrews AFB with a Navy Reseve sqdn for better pay.
Nov95 I was eligible to apply and interview. I dropped my job change request on Dec1st, interviewed (4 days in LA - tests, sim ride, sit down interview) in late Jan96. Got my letter on Feb8th, in ground school in Memphis on Feb21st. 👍🏻
