but a movie set is not every day life. You also don't murder people or drive cars off cliffs or do any other number of stunts and scenes that are shot in movies and TV shows every single day. Is the actor also responsible for making sure a car used in a chase scene is set up correctly and in working order? Of course not. On top of that is it reasonable to expect an actor to know the difference between blanks and live ammo? I wouldn't be able to. I asked a couple of police officers I know how you tell the difference and one said they didn't know the difference and the other said they knew only because they had recently staged an active shooter drill at a school and part of that was having the students hear what gunshots sounded like (which itself is sad that that's even necessary but that's another topic). So if people who handle guns and train with them all the time wouldn't automatically know I wouldn't expect the average actor to. The likely reality is this was a tragic accident that became politicized because some people don't Alec Baldwin and his views (or his SNL impressions). Personally I loved Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock but he does seem like kind of an ******* in real life. He comes across as very abrasive which probably didn't win him any sympathy either.
