This. We're just more connected than we were decades ago

Our brains are wired to notice and process things that are more or less local to us. We are not well equipped to handle a 24x7 cycle of information about the entire freakin' world. It really is no suprise that so many people walk around thinking that Western Civilization is near to collapse, when that's what they are being fed constantly.
