I think it's more the length than the worth. Judge's is too long too.

though it's not higher per year than top-flight pitchers and Judge actually plays every day. However, with both contracts not ending until they are 41, MLB is setting itself up to have just stupid contracts with these guys when they are 36-41 yrs of age. History tells us it isn't going to be pretty for them (statistically. The clubs monetarily will be fine). I think Bonds is the only modern player to have sustained success in that age range, and we know he was a bit juiced (though he probably has had the best hand-eye coordination in the history of baseball). Everyone else with success played before WWII.
