That is a good question

For arguments sake, let's park the idea of whether she should have died in prison or not. Let's say we're talking about Red from Shawshank Redemption who did a dumb thing 50 years ago and really has earned his freedom...and doesn't have a buddy who embezzled from the warden hiding out in Mexico he can go live with. You've got no real job skills, your health is presumably not great, and you don't even qualify for social security. If you don't have family still around who will take you in, pretty good chance you'll be hitting the ground homeless without any real prospects for a barely decent life.
