This sounds privately-funded and the design is done, so I think it will...

...get built. The part that won't happen is the proposed schedule. No way they will begin construction in November as they hope - building permitting is still a complete cluster in the city, and if they haven't applied yet, I don't see their permits being released in 3-4 months, unless the city jumps this project to the top of the review queue, which would be frustrating for everyone else. What sunk the coliseum project was all of the public funding required. That area severely needs redevelopment, but I'd much rather see it done with private money, so I was against the Navy Hill project as pitched. It's going to be interesting to see how the "Diamond District" stuff plays out. I think the Giants have mandated that the Squirrels have a new stadium to play in by opening day of the 2025 season, so the clock is ticking on that, too. I could see the city royally screwing up that schedule with permitting delays, and that could be disastrous with respect to the Squirrels' long-term future in Richmond.
