the Lexus is RWD. Has 160K miles. has been great until last month or so

The noise comes from the back of the car, when I drive. it has gotten louder over the last few weeks. I hear it when I am moving - no real difference between when I am accelerating or not accelerating (that's why I dont think it is exhaust related). sounds like bad tires sort of but tires are newer and balanced. Maybe a bearing? About 1000 miles back put new struts/shocks on the car. the noise changes a bit with speed, but seems to level off at higher speed. Friend was saying that that was the sound he was hearing before his transmission went (yes an Audi - surprise suprise). Any thoughts?

Ouch. Good luck. I would advise not buying luxury cars next go-round.
