Had been there three months, but everybody gets their EOY stuff done around the same time. Had just heard that a plane hit the building on the way in. Walked out of the room to a group lead striding down the hall like a valkyrie twirling her finger in the air, telling everybody to shut down their computers and go home. By the time we got out of the building, traffic to get off base was at a standstill, so we put the top down on somebody's jeep and listened to the radio for the next 2.5 hours. It wasn't until I got home that I saw video, and it hit like a gutpunch even though I'd heard everything already.
