They'd be dead in a week.

Hard to find bamboo growing in the wild here, which is all they eat. Besides, they're lazy and awkward. They're a bunch of awkward voluntary celibates and frankly the species would've gone extinct 50 years ago if not for human intervention. Natural selection says they should be gone, but man won't let them go.
