It's tough enough to get a hit, but now you want them to direct it?

I think fans have a misguided idea of how "easy" it would be to defeat the shift. Even if you expect every slugger facing a shift to just bunt, first of all that's not a gimme anyway. Second of all, I believe studies show that the overall effect of that is a negative -- bunting constantly gets you fewer expected runs over a long period than swinging away.
