There are really only 3 cloud names – Cumulus, Stratus and Cirrus. All the other names use these prefix/suffix: Strato. Alto, Nimbo. Note that nimbo/nimbus clouds are the ones that rain and snow come from.
Low Level Clouds
Cumulus
Stratus
Stratocumulus
Middle Clouds
Altocumulus
Nimbostratus
Altostratus
High Level Clouds
Cirrus
Cirrocumulus
Cirrostratus
All Three
Cumulonimbus!
