And, remission definitely does not equal cure. Time frame here for remission/no relapse is like about two years. That does not even (yet) equate to the so-called "five-year cure rate", which to me is just code for a good, long CR (complete remission). So what we have here is a pretty good treatment for colorectal cancer. It's a monoclonal antibody -- so an immunotherapy. Every drug that ends in "mab" is a monoclonal antibody. There are lots of these around now, used for many sorts of cancers. Mabs don't have some of the limitations of chemotherapy, and certainly a different (and lesser) series of side effects. This type of result doesn't really surprise me. It's part of the steady incremental improvement in treatment efficacy, a ladder which we have been climbing on over the years. And for sure it is a small data pool. Pleasing data, but not something to wave big flags over (just little ones I guess). "News" organizations of any type often like to gush over the small moments and make them bigger than they are with hyped up graphics, tone, etc. I worry about regular folks being over stimulated or confused by their stories.
