Yup
Had a pair of Nike running shoes that were the best I had ever worn, then I don't know what changes they did to the next generation, but they sucked in comparison. I bought the next version of that shoe, and it wasn't any better. That was the last pair of Nike running shoes I ever bought. I moved to New Balance, and started going through the "990" series shoes, and they were all pretty good.
About 20 years ago I switched to Brooks, and they have been in my "2-pair rotation" since. I rotated in a multitude of shoes until my first pair of Ons. Now I just rotate between Brooks and Ons.

I wear Brooks as well. They seem to hold up much better than New Balance. **
