Why not eliminate the automatic bids?

Just take the top 12 teams regardless of conference affiliation. This not only lowers the chance of a lopsided game in round one but brings back some glory to winning a conference title. I am not a ND homer or against JMU here. But what we’ve got this year is a top 10 group plus 2 other teams. They may surprise me and be competitive today. But the chances of winning 3 games for a ncaa title are extremely low
