It is impressive and I do applaud whomever did it. One thing that helps me

bring some perspective to these large donations is the family's net worth. If the family is as wealthy as the Kennedys, Warren Buffett, or Bill Gates, then these types of donations may be a drop in the bucket for them. Particularly when you factor in any tax benefits. It helps me realize just how much good the wealthy can do and how much influence they can have on philanthropic endeavors. It wouldn't surprise me if this family has given 2x or 3x the amount of today's donation to VT over the years. I do hope the next group of leaders at VT continues to cultivate these relationships for both sides of the house. As VT continues to climb the ranks, whether it is in academics or athletics, it is the support of the alumni, regardless of the amount, that will help forge that path to the desired destination.
