Interestingly, I just learned that in NC liquor and spirits are not allowed
There is a state law that beer and unfortified wine are the only alcoholic beverages that may be consumed in all controlled parking lots (for NC public schools).
I can’t remember how I stumbled across this, but I was surprised to see how restrictive NC is for this. I can’t imagine a VT tailgate without anyone around having some bourbon or shine.
