You can, IF

your recruiters can evaluate talent better than your competitors. You might find diamonds-in-the-rough like certain Hokies whos names you might recall... Chamarri Conner (Super Bowl Champion), Brandon Facyson (7 years in the League), Divine Deablo (6 years in the League) I think those "lower-tier 3-star guys", none of whom were in the top 30 HS players in their state, might have something to add to this discussion!

Ask Indiana, err... I mean ex-JMU**

Most people don't know what it means to be a 5 star recruit
Gman12 06/18/26 11:07 AM ET
If they stay 3-4 years **
VaTechHokiesACC 06/17/26 11:55 PM ET
It depends on how you define "Championship"
BuffaloTraceHokie 06/17/26 10:08 PM ET
Yes. Don’t think Indiana had ANY 5 stars per HS ranks **
hokiepro 06/17/26 09:19 PM ET
Portal recruiting vs HS recruiting is apples and oranges**
Techsupport 06/18/26 12:25 PM ET
Right…and?
hokiepro 06/18/26 12:34 PM ET
I say YES but the odds are low.
Flanker 06/17/26 08:18 PM ET
I thought recruiting rankings were bs? 😉**
HokieNL 06/17/26 10:31 PM ET
They are and some of the disparities support that assertion.
Flanker 06/17/26 10:45 PM ET
With NIL and the Portal, and what indiana did in two years, do we need a...
HokieNL 06/18/26 05:12 PM ET
It might work but it sounds complicated.

R.A.T.T.: most often? Nyet comrade.

I'm just going plus 1 on the pic. I lingered.**

Hello Indiana, national champions. It takes good coaching staff and good QB
carhokies 06/17/26 04:27 PM ET
Has happened once in 50 years. Indiana is the outlier, not the norm**
Hate2SeeItEnd Hokie 06/17/26 06:19 PM ET
Maybe. But the playing field has changed considerably in the last 5 years
marcbvtgm 06/19/26 11:00 AM ET
VT had zero 5-star and zero 4-star recruits during Vick's 2 years.
carhokies 06/18/26 11:19 AM ET
Thats not true. Vick, Houseright, Suggs
Hate2SeeItEnd Hokie 06/18/26 01:52 PM ET
We also had Grove, Whittaker, and Adibi. All 4 stars by at least one pub
Hate2SeeItEnd Hokie 06/18/26 01:56 PM ET
Rivals lists only 32 Five-stars nationally right now. So YES, of course.
Hardcore_Hokie 06/17/26 03:52 PM ET
Even blue bloods are mostly 3* & 4*. Maybe 10% 5* (give or take)**
marcbvtgm 06/17/26 03:51 PM ET
yah; (objective) fair-play. Tho'... if those ***** yield you a MV3 or CM2,
bourbonstreet 06/17/26 06:04 PM ET
My point was many people falsely think blue bloods are loaded w/ 5*
marcbvtgm 06/17/26 10:17 PM ET
If the blue bloods are signing 5 and 4-star recruits each year and those

Eye fell yah... no argue here---->**

BTW: ... some services cap ***** at 32 and some at 4o. So yah; you do have
bourbonstreet 06/17/26 10:40 PM ET
People see rankings & arbitrary lines as gospel so give 'em what they want.**
marcbvtgm 06/18/26 09:31 AM ET
Yup. You really only need 3-4 elite players to win a championship
VT ChemE 1986 06/17/26 06:46 PM ET
Disagree. You need more than above avg supporting cast.
marcbvtgm 06/17/26 10:26 PM ET
Indiana did **
tallahasseehokie 06/17/26 02:59 PM ET
Indiana model is unique (and brilliant). **
Techsupport 06/17/26 04:27 PM ET
Yes, if you have enough hookers and blow to keep the players sexified**
