I say YES but the odds are low.

I think it can be done but the coaches would have to be able to identify the lower-rated players who overachieve. Recruit a few unrated players like Diego Pavia, Jerod Evans, Bayshul Tuten, Marcellous Hawkins. One big problem is that these playoff committees tend to snub programs that lack a national profile. I attached a link below to the 247 Sports Football Team Talent Composite that calculates a rating of teams based on the number of 5 stars, 4 stars and 3 stars on the team. Out of the last eight national champions, 2025 Indiana and 2023 Michigan are the only national champions that are outside the top ten in the Team Talent Composite. It's interesting to see which teams underperformed based on their supposed talent levels. 2025 Indiana / 72nd / Fernando Mendoza 2 star QB 2024 Ohio State / 3rd / Will Howard 3 star QB 2023 Michigan / 14th / J.J.
