I don't see any reason to insult the guy, however...

I said at the time of his hiring. Wisconsin is OL U. It's a lot easier to get a reputation as an igloo builder in Alaska than Arizona. I certainly didn't see enough last season to conclude he overachieved given what he had to work with. I could probably make that case for Vance Vice however. He was one of the best we've had. Overall though, one season is not enough for me to evaluate JR. Now he'll be back at ND, loaded for bear with talent again. So, the jury will remain out for a while (not that I'll be keeping track). I will say I wasn't crazy about his departing words. I'm a believer myself, and I certainly believe that God guides the steps of those that make life decisions through the lens of their faith. However, he made the decision to come to Blacksburg, and he made the decision to leave Blacksburg based on a set of circumstances in front him. He really doesn't owe me, or anyone else any explanation at all, but if you're going to offer one, don't throw your arms up and say hey, I'm just going where God "told" me to. That's a cop out. It was more something to do with the following: 1) Family related 2) Career related Both of those are fine, legitimate reasons. I have no problem with.....UNLESS you gave Brent Pry the confidence you wouldn't do exactly what you're doing now, and hurting the VT program. That's not "God", that's breaking your word. I think its pretty clear he did, BUT, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Bowen's desire to change schemes may well be a fair reason for him to depart (that isn't what he signed up for etc). The fact we counter offered aggressively to keep him tells me this isn't "part of plan to retool", although Pry is spinning this as an opportunity to get a more cohesive staff...which also could be true. What I don't believe its "hey, I'm really happy hear, but God...". Come on. There's a reason you were looking around.
