The access road is to serve the existing structures. VA state law(s) and

maybe even federal law(s) will define the requirements for an access road. If VT is allowed to shift Callaghan-Sheridan Way (aka the access road according to Google Maps) towards Merryman Athletic Center, then it would mean losing at least part of the outdoor practice field. It may even put the road too close to the Beamer Barn depending on how much of the road has to be moved. Even though Callaghan-Sheridan Way officially ends at the Hahn Hurst Basketball Practice Center, it does appear there is an access branching off of it that goes by the Washington Street tennis courts and the Basketball Practice Extension (according to Google Maps) to connect to Washington Street. No idea what is in the empty space between Callaghan-Sheridan Way and VT Engage: The Center for Leadership and Service Learning (aka the space just to the north of the Stadium Woods). Also, the access road serves the East Stands including the fence area that runs behind it, so there may be legal requirements on how far away the access road can be from the further point served (i.e. the middle of the East Stands assuming Lot 2 serves as the "access road" for the rest of the East Stands). At least Chris made a comment in a prior post on this topic about the fence running behind the East Stands as being a factor. I don't know if TSL has ever done an article on this specific topic, but it may be a worthwhile topic since this issue has popped up multiple times.

Last minute sales are pretty common for a variety of reasons.

You are the second person who ignored the last part of my post...

I didn't ignore anything. There is no good stadium expansion scenario.

Key words. "75K tix were sold for Metallica"**

We can’t even fill the current stadium anymore. Why expand?

Years ago I would have been an advocate for expanding NEZ for students

And if we book more bands like Metallica, it'll be quite the rock quarry.

It would be gneiss if they booked more bands. I had a blast! And certainly

Good information. I wonder how IN's fire and safety codes compare to VA's.
VTHokie2000 05/09/25 01:39 PM ET
Couldn’t they just build in an access road for the new structure ?
