In pass pro. VT failed on this in Pry year 1 and first part of year 2. Haven't really had QB or OL to commit to it since. Having a QB with pocket presence will help OL guy like Drones can be hard to protect. However, step one is for OL to create a "pocket" for the QB. VT OL hasn't really executed step one at 101 level. Would be interesting to see how Moore's OLs at WVU and Troy, etc did in pass pro? Did he ever coach OL with non-dual threat QB in pro west coast scheme? and how did that look? This is the #1 big challenge for Franklin in year 1. If OL cannot protect Grunk, that would be a big huge fail. We have almost zero OL who have proven they can do pass protect well in +100 graded snaps. It is all on coach Moore in year 1, fail on this and Franklin will fire him and replace him with a new OL coach! This in my mind is hardest lift for VT in 2026. Will severely test ability of Moore to coach them up and play callers to mitigate without abandoning base scheme and Grunk as QB#!
