And the multitudes of people with public speaking issues indicate that, yeah, people sometimes perform below their abilities when the pressure is on and stress is increased. You never have any problems talking with friends and family -- so why would you have a problem talking in front of 1000 people? Stress. Pressure. Fear of failure.
