Every other D1 team operates under some kind of conference structure, and the playoffs are designed around that structure. If ND wants to continue to opt out of that so they can make more money, then they have no one to blame when their lack of conference affiliation comes back to haunt them. Enjoy counting those TV benjamins while you're watching the postseason, Irish. That being said, there is no sane world where Tulane and JMU should be in the playoffs while ND, BYU, Texas, and Vandy watch from the sidelines. Those two G5 pretenders, along with Bama (the only conf championship game loser that was completely unaffected by their lopsided loss) are the teams that ND should be upset with- not the team that beat them head to head. At this point, the playoffs should just be the top 12 teams, and let the chips fall where they may. It's only a matter of time until that happens and the SEC/BiG occupy all the slots.
