I mean, LSU football is a pretty big "quality of life" metric in Louisiana
And several other states. Texas, Bama, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Tenn, Oklahoma.
So many issues/topics are that South Park episode, where the locals complained about Walmart. Do you blame Walmart, or do you blame the people who keep spending money at Walmart? We get what we allow, and what we support.
Not many people care if their state moves from #47 to #43 in public education. But if your state school wins a football championship, people will be wearing those t-shirts until they die.
