It's not like we had some incredible scheme that just manufactured blocked kicks and return TDs at a crazy rate, it's because no teams in the 90s were running out all their starters on ST. Sure you'd get a Desmond Howard returning punts, but he wasn't playing gunner on the other side and Michigan wasn't running out their starting lineman on both sides. We had all-american CBs coming off the edge and gunning, all-conference RBs returning kicks. Now we have backup safeties on the edge and 3rd string WR/RBs fielding punts.
