We had some dogs. One thing I will never understand is the drop off in RB recruiting, it's like we forgot how to recruit that position. Overton is the first HS recruit running back that we landed in a long time that looks like a good P4 back. Most of our HS RB recruits haven't been anything special, ditto on QB. Don't get me wrong, we were able to find guys like Tuten, Hawkins, and Hebert.....but they were transfers, and looking at where we pulled them from, we could have landed them out of high school. It wasn't like there weren't good RBs out there, we just started picking the wrong ones. Players like JC Coleman, Deshawn McClease, Keyshawn King, and even Steven Peoples (I liked him though) should never have been season leading rushers if we were recruiting that position well. Hopefully this changes with Franklin. Time will tell but Mickens certainly looks like a return to the type of RBs that we used to recruit fairly regularly. If you have to go to the portal for your starting QB and starting RB all of the time then you're recruiting poorly IMO.
