This athletic department has just been one fail after the other for football for a decade and a half. The last time, after much eager anticipation, they trot out a guy nobody had ever even heard of and you see how that worked out. His predecessor was wholly unsupported. I guess the fact they hired him was good, but we squandered his skills IMO. Had he won, we would have thought of him as an old-school, hard-nosed ball coach, rather than the bottle crunching sour pus we remember. This go round it's been mixed messaging, followed by NDAs, then leaks e.g. involving Shane, and all the while, Babcock remains under our employ. All this creates legitimate concerns that we are just throwing good money after bad and that we end up with some no name or retread. At this point, I have to see it work to believe it.
