We hired a green HC, who in turn hired a green OC and green DC. Nobody really knew what we were getting with any of them. Three years later, your eyes don't lie. The OC, who predictably struggled due to lack of experience, is continuing to get better. It may be in fits and starts, it may be a bit of a rollercoaster, but the overall trajectory is clearly up. The DC and HC, who also struggled initially due to inexperience, have not shown the same propensity to learn on the job. Three years later, they are still failing at the same things. It's really been a flatline progress chart for both. Tackling, assignment football, gap control. Team discipline, clock management, decision making in close games. Someone explain how any of those things are better now than they were in 2022. At this point, I would be curious to hear arguments as to why we should be optimistic that either Marve or Pry will somehow turn a corner and suddenly start correcting the mistakes that have been repeated since they assumed their current jobs.
