I’m looking forward to the game but question for board gurus….
1) how concerned should CMY be with team health for the long run when he is only playing 7-8 guys? 2) Does minutes in high-stress, back and forth, close ballgames take more out of a player than minutes when you’re up 10-12 the whole game? I ask these two question because our team looks tired to me and using a short bench, especially how things have gone since ACC play started with OT, 1 possession games every night just takes the air out of the team.

For nostalgia reasons, I recently saw the box score for the 1973 NIT win.
Tech played 8 players but I don't think the two freshman Dave Sensibaugh and Kyle McKee played many minutes. Their basic rotation was Allen Bristow, Craig Lieder, Ed Frazier, Charlie Thomas and Bobby Stevens with Calvin Wade as the sixth man. We had a 15 player roster but I think only 13 were on the travel roster. Notre Dame under Digger Phelps with, I think with a 15 player roster, only played six players in the game and I don't think the sub played a lot of minutes. They had no non-starter that played in all of their games and the one guy who subbed in for the NIT championship game only played in about 15 games that season. I'm not sure what that means, but it was an interesting stat.

It's just an anecdote. But there are tons of other days points with hall of
fame coaches who only played 6-7 guys significant minutes. There are relatively few who consistently played 10 or more. It's just a false narrative.

"Short-bench = tired" is a fallacy. Coach K won multiple NCAA championships
with 8 players or less at 10 min/gm. The 1992 version had 5 guys at > 30 mpg and only 7 at > 10 mpg. That team went 34-2 and was one of the greatest teams of all time. At least 3 other renditions of NCAA champs had "short benches" and they did just fine as well. These guys are young. And during the regular season they have 3-4 days off between games. They will be fine. Our problem is that our best players are not playing for significant numbers of games. With Lawal we certainly beat St. Mary's. And against WFU neither Lawal nor Johnson. Even with Lawal's 18 mins vs Stanford they weren't prime mins and still not Johnson. With a healthy roster we have at least 1 more win if not 3. That's the issue, not minutes per player.

He will play 9 tonight most likely
Out of necessity with pace SMU plays with plus having Dorn back. I’d also imagine Pasha plays at least a little tonight
