Here are the highlights This is only year four and his recruits are higher level every year. He inherited a roster with barely enough people to put on the court. He has never had a losing season here despite how little he had to work with in years 1-2. He won the ACC tournament in only his third year (with recruits he had at Wofford). Our “ACC level” recruits are all in year 1-2 in our system and just getting started. This year was decimated by injuries to our guards. We are starting a true freshman because we have to. Very few coaches in the country could have had the results that CMY got here with everything else the same. This program is finally at a solid talent and depth level and is just getting started under CMY. In two years when Pedulla is a senior and we have a solid rotation at all positions then this team will be making national noise. As it is, we are 16-12 this year despite a lot of adversity. We are only about 10 points in total away from being a 20 win team. They are close. So no, I don’t think CMY is lucky. He is a damn good coach who gets his teams in position to play with anyone. And he is a perfect culture fit for VT on top of that.
